Vihāra Pod Lasem

Vihāra Pod Lasem is a forest Buddhist hermitage in Poland. It is a place for monks (bhikkhu) who practice in accordance with the teachings and discipline preserved in the Pāli Canon.

The hermitage was established in 2025 by the Bodhi Tree Foundation and belongs to a community that also includes Hillside Hermitage and Samanadīpa Monastery in Slovenia. These communities cultivate a monastic life inspired by the texts of early Buddhism. In their teachings, they emphasize the key role that developing morality and restraining the senses plays in the the Buddha’s teachings. This allows for the development of right understanding, which is essential for significant progress in practice.


Vihāra Pod Lasem currently operates as a hermitage for monks. Eventually, it will also host nuns and laypeople, offering them the opportunity to spend a periods in seclusion based on a simple, established routine.
