Dhammapada 188-192
188
Many people, struck with fear,
go for refuge
to mountains and forests,
to tree shrines in parks.
189
This is not the safe refuge;
this is not the supreme refuge.
Owing to this refuge,
one is not liberated from all suffering.
190
But one who has gone for refuge
to the Buddha, Dhamma, and Saṅgha,
sees, with proper understanding,
the four noble truths —
191
Uneasiness,
the origin of that uneasiness,
its cessation,
and the Noble Eightfold Path leading to the end of it.
192
This indeed is the safe refuge;
this is the supreme refuge.
Owing to this refuge,
one is liberated from all uneasiness.
